What is man's best invention or discovery in your view and why?
240408 - 0336, I take a lot of photos for my writing projects. One of the best cameras for this purpose has a close focus mode down to 2 cm. It is the Sony 10.2 megapixel DSC-TX1. I love it but it is no longer being made. It fits in a shirt pocket, and nothing moves. It is fantastic.X < > Y, AZ Sonoran desert Richard.

An 18th century lifestyle, I love the clothing & the skills & the everyday 18th century items. My wife & I lived an 18th century lifestyle for 20 years, & raised 3 fine sons in that time. We are still living off grid, but we have solar power electricity now & a fridge/freezer. However, if we had to, we could go back to having no electricity, even though it means more work in food preserving & clothes washing.

Let me introduce you to a super-cool, less known invention from 400 BC.The Pythagoras Cup!The story goes like this. Pythagoras, who is famous for his work on right angled triangles, used to serve wine to his students in this cup. This cup used to ensure that all of them get the same amount of wine and if somebody was greedy and tried to fill more wine in the cup, that student used to get his comeuppance and all the wine from his cup used to fall from the bottom of the cup.
